QuoteDisplay More1. Are there any information about the first Winter Assault Patch in regard of progress and content?
Indeed we are working on a patch! It will hopefully be released very soon, and fixes a few balance issues, as well as a bug with the Automatch map lists. We are still waiting to get the last of the localized games out for a few Eastern European and Asian countries, so that is holding the patch up, be we should be done those soon and we’ll release the patch right afterwards!
2. What do you plan for the future of Dawn of War?
Right now we’re discussing a few things. We really like working with Games Workshop, and obviously games really like this game, so we’re definitely planning to continue the franchise. We’d like Dawn of War to be synonymous with the ultimate online RTS experience.
3. Are you talking about a second Add On or even Dawn of War 2?
Hahaha, I’m afraid I can’t answer that! Like I said, we’re discussing a variety of things, and as soon as we have something solid we’ll start sharing our plans. Right now the company is really getting behind the launches of The Outfit for the Xobx 360, and Company of Heroes, our next-generation RTS, both of which launch next year.
4. How will you handle the future mod support?
We’re trying to be as active as we can with the community and the mod projects; there are certainly some very good ones out there. We’re always conflicted between getting new games on the shelves, and throwing in neat features for our mod communities, but we’ll do our best to satisfy both needs.
5. How far has the community been included in the general patch works and how do you want to handle it in the future?
We have a few balance testers with really strong ties to the community, and they will ask the top players from time to time about specific balance changes, but for the most part we just try and stay current with the trends on the leader boards, and the comments people are making in the forums. In the future it would be nice to consider doing beta tests of the patches before wide release, but that is difficult for a couple reasons. One is that beta groups tend to be small, and they might have to play a huge number of games in order to discover balance issues that would be obvious with a wide release. The other reason is that we’re still a small team, and every patch takes way more work than we expect; once you factor in all the localized version, re-releases to QA, bug fixing and other work, they take a few people a few weeks to prepare.
6. When will the new Map/Mod Editor be released and will it be easier to use?
We have done some fixes internally for our use, so any of our latest stuff will definitely make it into the tool release. We’re hoping to do another release of the tools after the patch!
7. When will you release a solution for the massive problems of compatibility with the latest ATI Catalyst drivers?
We’re working on those, but we actually do get some conflicting information off the boards, so all I can say right now is sit tight!
8. Do you plan further features like the already implemented observer mode?
As I said, we are working on plans for the franchise, and as we sort those out, there could be some cool features that trickle out to our user base.
9. Is there anything you would like to say to our visitors of DawnofWar.de?
Thanks for playing the game! Knowing you’re out there enjoying our work makes it that much more worthwhile!
