We want to clear up a few things about the changes to sync kills in tier one.
Here’s a list of exactly what has changed:
1. The following squads no longer perform sync kills in multiplayer games:
a. Eldar Banshees
b. Ork Sluggas
c. Tyranid Hormagaunts, Warriors, and Raveners
d. Space Marine Assault Marines
2. No other sync kills were removed.
3. These units can still all be the recipient of sync kills from other units.
4. The campaign is completely unaffected by this change.
We have no plans to remove any sync kills other than those listed.
This is a part of a broader attempt to improve unit responsiveness in Retribution. When we disabled the sync kills listed above these units retreated much more reliably. This had a big impact in early game skirmishes where most matches depend on the outcome of battles with one or two squads of tier one units.
We understand that a change like this can be controversial and we hope that you’ll all take the opportunity to try this change and all the Retribution multiplayer content in our upcoming beta. You’ll have a chance to see this change along with the new Imperial Guard, the improved matchmaking, and the new chat lobbies and provide feedback to the DoW2 team.
We’ve seen the passion that both sides have in this debate and this functionality is something that we’re going to be watching closely during the beta in order to evaluate whether or not it’s something we should change.
Thanks to everyone for voicing their feedback so far. We hope to see everyone online February 1st.

Tier 2 sergeants will still perform their sync kills. The change only affects the base tier 1 one units listed.
