:xmas:
As winter is cold, i decided to redo a desert map and create a tropical bay out of it, just to bring some sunshine to you fellas.
So, here are the first versions of Antiga Bay.
I've created a 2 player version, which plays like Sands of Time, but has wider paths and has a smoother feel to it, as well as a 4 player version for autoteam - top/left vs bottom/right.
Just take a look:
- 4 strategic per player
- 3 crits
- 2 relics
- player symmetrical
- 3 strategic per player
- 3 crits
- 2 relics
- autoteam symmetrical
- The Idea
I like Sands of Time alot, but as i got a lot of positive comments, i also got criticism. And that's what i'm aiming for. You have to be very critic with your work, and if others are so too, you get the chance to improve. That's why i redid Sands of Time to the now called Antiga Bay.
Antiga Bay and Sands of Time don't differ much. Some might say they are exactly the same maps, only different themes, and i'd agree to 95%. But Antiga Bay has wider paths, faster access to the center relics and strategic points, slightly shorter distances to the crits at the edges and slightly changed cover positions, which is only cookie cutter. But you can feel the difference and Antiga Bay just feels smoother to me.
Next thing i wanted to accomplish, was a natural look of the map, and most of all, an unsymmetrical look. I guess it works out well, as i checked and checked back paths as it felt they were different, but they just are not. That's exactly what i wanted to accieve, and i fall for it everytime i switch sides ![]()
The 4 player version also "introduces" some sort of different teamplay. The startpositions aren't quarters, which means that not every position is the same. Every side has the exact same layout, but it's only point symmetric, instead of two axis symmetric, so the general feel is different. I hope it works out as well as it is intended to be like. The first games we had were all quite interesting and felt unconventional. I guess that's a good sign. ![]()
Anyway, enough talking, here are some more shots:
- Back entrance / Skeleton light cover at the beach
- Burned down jungle negative cover

Just extract the '.zip into your ...\DXP2\Data\Scenarios\MP\ folder. If this folder does not exist already, then create it by yourself, and put all 8 mapfiles (4 for each version) into this folder.
I'd love to get some comments ![]()
